Champion Awards

The Living Wage Champion Awards celebrate individuals and organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to the Living Wage movement.

Nominations for the Living Wage Champion Awards 2023 are now closed. Nominations for the 2024 award will open in January 2024. 

This year's ceremony will be held at the National Football Museum in Manchester on Thursday 6th July 2023.

This year's categories are:

  1. ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR
    Recognises workers and advocates who have spoken out about the Living Wage, such as at an event, in a blog or at a Living Wage action.
  2. BEYOND THE LIVING WAGE
    Recognises organisations who go way beyond the basics of Living Wage accreditation to ensure that they offer the highest standards of employment.
  3. CAMPAIGN OF THE YEAR
    Open to individuals, teams and community groups that have successfully campaigned on the Living Wage and grown the Living Wage movement.
  4. EMPLOYEE'S CHOICE
    Open to all employees at Living Wage Employers or Recognised Service Providers who can make the case for why they deserve to be recognised as an excellent place to work.
  5. FUNDERS CHAMPION
    Open to Living Wage Employers that use their funding and grant-making processes to promote the real Living Wage in a sector reliant on grants.
  6. HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE CHAMPION
    Open to Living Wage Employers in the Health and Social Care Sector who have shown exceptional leadership on the Living Wage within their own organisation and promoted it in their sector and supply chain.
  7. INDUSTRY TRAILBLAZER
    Open to those who have shown exceptional leadership by promoting the Living Wage in their industry and supply chain. Excludes applicants from Health & Social Care, Retail & Hospitality, Funders, Third Sector orgs and RSPs as they have sector-specific awards.
  8. LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
    Open to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the Living Wage movement dedicating significant amounts of time and effort to advocating for a Living Wage and secure work.
  9. LIVING HOURS CHAMPION
    Open to Living Hours accredited organisations who are championing the Living Hours scheme and encouraging others to go further.
  10. LIVING WAGE PLACES CHAMPION 
    Open to Living Wage Employers or Groups of Living Wage Employers recognising and utilising their role in influencing other businesses in their area to demonstrate good employment practices that benefit the local economy.
  11. PUBLIC SECTOR CHAMPION
    Open to Living Wage Employers from the public sector who have shown exceptional leadership by promoting the Living Wage to other public sector employers and to the public. Public sector Health and Social Care organisations should enter the specific HSC category.
  12. RETAIL AND HOSPITALITY CHAMPION
    Given to Living Wage Employers in the Retail & Hospitality Sector that have shown exceptional leadership on the Living Wage within their own organisation and promoted the Living Wage in their sector and supply chains.
  13. RECOGNISED SERVICE PROVIDER CHAMPION 
    Open to Recognised Service Providers who show leadership on the Living Wage in the FM or services industry and successfully champion the Living Wage to clients through their contracts.
  14. THIRD SECTOR CHAMPION
    Open to Living Wage Employers in the third sector organisations who are actively championing and promoting the Living Wage to their peers in the sector.
